Google Glass (Glass) is a multi-functional, augmented reality device that can be used as a camera, video recorder, audio recorder, telephone, conferencing platform, or vehicle to run any number of applications currently under development. The immediate uses of Glass in the medical context are simultaneously modest and extraordinary: modest because relatively few medical apps have been released for Glass and extraordinary because surgeons and other health care professionals seem to perceive great value in Glass, a positive reaction they seldom display for traditional health information technologies.
